Stauffer Communications purchased KRNT from the Cowles Broadcasting in 1974. This is when KCCI and KRNT were split. See Brief History of KRNT. While the Central Life Building studios were being constructed, for 5 months, the station operated from a mobile studio on the Central Life parking lot. The term "Circus Wagon" was coined by the staff.
