KIOA "gold bricks" like this were used in a late 1950's promotion. The bricks were numbered (this one was #80) and hidden in various locations around Des Moines. A listener was able to take the bricks to the KIOA studios in the old Tromar Ballroom building at 5th and Park and exchange them for prizes. These were full sized building bricks that had been fired with a gold colored glaze.
This brick was found in a phone booth.
