Note from Edward R. Murrow
to Ford Roberts
Edward R. Murrow’s 1948 release, “I Can Hear It Now”, a four-disc, 78 RPM album of historical events, enjoyed a lot of Des Moines air-play. KRNT, the Des Moines ABC station at the time, featured the album one-cut-a-day on the Gene Emerald Show. Ford Roberts broadcast the entire album on KWDM Thanksgiving evening. That performance gained a mention in the Des Moines Register’s ‘Front Row’ column. Emerald and KRNT were furious since the paper at that time owned the radio station.
Ford Roberts does not recall writing Murrow. Apparently he did as Ed Murrow’s reply is shown below.
